Navigate to the sidebar menu: [Deployments](docId\:h62CnWLZ1OyHnHPKL5AS9) > [Cloud Box](docId\:e_tXauKillzZbEpbgeI_h) and ensure you are on the **DNS Forwarding** tab.
:::

## Overview

The **DNS Forwarding **section allows you to use DNS servers different from ours. This function is highly useful in **Microsoft Active Directory** environments or to reduce the **traffic** sent to our datacenters.

Instead of standard filtering, you can **define wildcard** domains and specify which **internal **or **external** DNS servers to use. A wildcard domain matches the domain itself and all its subdomains.

To avoid configuration **issues**, these queries must be resolved using a **private IP** address and **not** a **public** one.

## Top Navigation Tools

At the top of the forwarding page, you will find the primary tools for **interacting** with your **configuration list**:

| ### Interface Element                               | ### Focus & Description                                                                                                                                                         |

| **Filters** | Button positioned next to the search bar to apply **sorting** and view results grouped by Cloud Box. |
