At this point you can enable the DHCP Server so that it automatically assigns network parameters, including our DNS, to the various internal devices. Then open the [Installation] menu and click on [LAN Settings]. Enable the Use router as DHCP server item and enter the first and last IP of the DHCP range in the Start IP Address and End IP Address fields, respectively. PLEASE NOTE: The DHCP Server will distribute the Netgear's IP as the only DNS. Since the DNS of the Router has been previously changed, setting our IPs will be used to resolve DNS requests. So the traffic will be filtered.

Alternatively, the DNS of the various devices within the network can be changed manually.

2. OPTIONAL: Deny DNS changes by users

It is possible to increase security by denying the user the ability to browse unfiltered, as a result of changing the DNS on their device. To do this, proceed as follows: » Open the [Security] menu and click on [Firewall Rules]. » At this point you need to create rules to block all traffic on port 53 (DNS Service), both TCP and UDP, except those directed to our IPs. Then click on the [+Add] button and fill in the page as follows: » Services: Choose the DNS (TCP/UDP:53) item from the drop-down menu. » Action: Select ALWAYS Allow. » LAN Users: Leave the Any item selected. » WAN Server: Choose Unique Address. » Start: Enter this IP 185.236.104.104. Click [Apply] to save.

Now we need to create another rule similar to the previous one except for the IP address of the Start field, which must be 185.236.105.105. Finally we need to create a rule to block all DNS traffic directed to other IPs, other than our own. Therefore, proceed as follows: » Services: Choose DNS(TCP/UDP:53). » Action: Select the BLOCK always item. » LAN users: Leave Any. » WAN Servers: Leave Any. Then click the [Apply] button to create the rule.
