## Overview

To configure the **forwarding** of a wildcard domain to an **internal** or **external** DNS server instead of ours, you must fill out the configuration panel. This function is highly **useful** in **Microsoft Active Directory** environments or to reduce the traffic sent to our **datacenters**.

## Configuration Fields

Use the provided form to **define** exactly where th&#x65;**&#x20;DNS requests** for your chosen wildcard domains should be routed:

| **Domain**                                        | Enter the specific **domain** and all its **subdomains** that you want to route to alternative DNS servers instead of ours.                                                                        |
| **Primary DNS server IP**                         | Input the **exact IP** address of the main DNS server that should resolve the requests for this **wildcard domain**. This must be a **private IP** address an&#x64;**&#x20;not** a **public** one. |
| **Secondary DNS server IP**                       | Enter an alternative private **IP address** for redundancy. This field is optional but recommended to ensure **continuous resolution** if the primary server fails.                                |
| **Selected Cloud Boxes**                          | Check the boxes next to the names of the Cloud Boxes where you want this **specific forwarding rule** to be actively enforced.                                                                     |
| <font color="#2563eb">`Add DNS forwarding`</font> | Click the blue button at the bottom right to **save** your **configuration** and **deploy** the **forwarding rule** to your network.                                                               |
