Ubiquiti-UniFi
Overview
If you have not yet registered for the service, you can do so by visiting our registration page. Connect to the Web panel by entering the IP address of the Ubiquiti device in the address bar of any browser. Then, log in by entering your administrative credentials.
Configure the Device DNS
First, you need to change the DNS of the device. To do this, click on the Network menu, then look for the WAN Network Settings item. Enter the address 185.236.104.104 inside the Primary DNS IP field and 185.236.105.105 in the Secondary DNS IP field. Click Change to apply the updates.
Configure Dynamic DNS Service
Next, open the Services menu and enable the Dynamic DNS item. Configure the various fields as follows:
- Service: Select Dyndns.org.
- Host Name: Enter any name you like, for example, Filter.
- User Name: Enter the specific username assigned to your dynamic network inside our dashboard. Do not use your main account email.
- Password: Enter the specific password assigned to your dynamic network.
Click on the Change button to save.
It is absolutely not necessary to be registered for the DynDns.org service. Our system will automatically intercept and redirect the DynDns.org update connections directly to our web filter.
Configure the DHCP Server
To distribute the cloud filter DNS to all devices within the local network, open the Network menu and look for the LAN Network Settings item. Fill in the fields as follows:
- Range Start: Enter the first IP address of your DHCP range.
- Range End: Enter the last IP address of your DHCP range.
- Netmask: Enter your subnet mask.
- Lease Time: Set a DHCP lease time in seconds.
- Primary DNS IP: Enter the IP 185.236.104.104.
- Secondary DNS IP: Enter the IP 185.236.105.105.
Click Change to make the modifications active. Alternatively, the DNS settings of the various devices within the network can be changed manually one by one.
Optional: Deny DNS Changes by Users
It is possible to increase security by denying users the ability to browse unfiltered by manually changing the DNS on their local devices. To do this, proceed as follows:
Click on the Network menu and open the Firewall item. At this point, you need to create rules to block all outbound traffic on port 53 for both TCP and UDP protocols, except for requests directed specifically to our cloud IPs.
It is crucial to respect the order of the firewall rules to ensure they work correctly. You must place the allow rules for our specific IPs 185.236.104.104 and 185.236.105.105 at the very top of the list, and immediately follow them with the general drop or block rules for all other port 53 traffic.
